Free Write Number #1

H O M E S T U C K - Also known as; the most overrated internet comic in the world (in my opinion). Back in my Freshman year of high school, I had met up with some of my older friends from middle school. My friend Brian had been reading this internet comic. Since he was pretty much addicted to it, he had to recommend it to EVERYONE. It was kinda silly but, fan boys will be fan boys. I do the same thing for a short period of time when I'm really into something, I guess It's just a natural thing. Anyway, I had seen some fan art and some buzz around the internet so, I finally decided to check it out myself.
Starting that comic was one of the dumbest things I could have done at the time. No thanks to my below average grades, short attention span this was a way to kill time. Before I knew it, I was sinking hours into just reading and reading and reading. It was as if I had sold my life to the author himself; looking back on it, I was surprised I could remain focused for that long. Anyway, the comic had a slow enough plot as it stands and over time it got even slower. I mean, at this time Homestuck had about 5000 pages and only getting longer.
But, around the end of my Sophomore year and the beginning of my Junior year, the comic's plot was at a complete stop. No, I don't mean the author stopped updating, I mean he was inserting a 2000 page backstory-filler arc out of nowhere. At this point I finally lost interest in the comic and never touched it since.
I'm sure you guys are wondering what this has to with STAC and basically, I took Luke's suggestion and I will give good reasons to hate on something. And now, let me give you three good reasons why I hate Homestuck with a burning passion.
One, the comic is paced very slowly and doesn't update very frequently. Normally, committed fans wouldn't mind to wait a little while. But, I am a very impatient person and hate waiting. For example, I can't wait for the new episode of a show that is currently airing, especially if the episode is really climatic or ends off on a cliffhanger. Two, the plot is too complicated and I have no clue how anyone can really follow it, that just may be a personal thing. The plot is so crazy I don't even want to START to ATTEMPT to describe it, check out the link at the bottom. Three, I really hate the art style. Once again, the fans don't seem to really care about the artistic quality in the drawings and animations. I mean, the whole comic is in MS paint, so the characters don't look very appealing. Even though I'm very critical of this comic, there are some positive aspects that I may touch upon in a later entry (I'm really sorry if I'm being a hater but haters gonna hate).

One more bad thing about the comic, which isn't even the comic itself, the fan base is terrible. I've seen some crazy people on the internet, Bronies (college and high school guys who like "My Little Pony) crazy COD nerds who don't know what a good game is and only play crappy first person shooters, even some crazy anime fans/weeaboos but, Homestucks are the absolute worst kind of people on the internet. My reasons, whenever I run into one on the internet its all crazy, off the wall, elitist, or just a straight up asshole right after I say, "I used to read it and don't anymore, I got really bored of it." I usually get a response along the lines of "OMG WHY AM I TALKING TO YOU, YOU HATE HOMESTUCK!" and "YOU SUCK BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE HOMESTUCK" or my personal favorite "YOU DONT LIKE HOMESTUCK? YOU HAVE NO SOUL!"
Anyway, I hope you liked my rant against a very popular internet comic and feel free to comment and if you like me hating on things, I can continue, make that my free write every week on something else I strongly dislike. Thanks for reading and have a nice day!
