Today I decided to take a look at a game that is coming out in about a month. The game is part of the Pokemon franchise and I've followed the series since I was 6. Yeah, it sounds a bit immature but, that's not the point, after digging a bit deeper into the unknown depths of the internet, I found something interesting. I found an interesting video concerning the game. It was a Youtube video about the game. It was portraying a new mechanic in the game which was also new to the series in general. This feature had stunning graphics and looked very fun. But, the last link was a suggested video (which may be linked to my Youtube account) I found another link. It was a video with two new Pokemon that I hadn't ever seen before. It also gave me a shock when the link said that the Pokemon could break the rules of Pokemon. I don't want to get too in-depth. So here are the links I used:

Take Something that Interests you and Explain Why you like it
Well, as I always say, there are two sides to everything. Since I am on the subject of internet comics, I might as well take the time to kick out another one of these assignments by writing about Homestuck AGAIN! Only this time, I won't hate as much and give light to the positive aspects of this widely known internet comic.
The first I would like to touch upon is the music. The way this guy gets music is similar to crowd funding, he takes music that others submit and he uses them in the animations he makes. One of my personal favorites is the song "Cascade" which plays for the ending of the fifth act, where Homestuck took that "little break" as aforementioned in my previous blog post. Anyway, I will post some links to some good music that this guy put into this comic, I just love that kind of techno-yet-traditional feel to some of the songs. It's hard to explain but, the music is one of the few things I respect in the category of Homestuck.
The other positive aspect I would like to touch upon is the insane amount of character development. As mentioned before, the plot progresses very, very slowly which gives the author time to screw around with the characters and develop their personalities more. This also gets the reader more attached to the characters and they find the characters easier to relate to. Now, the author is a sadistic madman in doing so because he loves to kill off the characters the fans are most attached to. Now, you may think that is a bad thing, and it is but, I never really minded losing my favorite character because I pretty much stopped reading after she dies. Don't ask me how that makes any sense.
Anyways, this should help to balance out the love and the hate... well most of the hate. Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Free Write Number #1
H O M E S T U C K - Also known as; the most overrated internet comic in the world (in my opinion). Back in my Freshman year of high school, I had met up with some of my older friends from middle school. My friend Brian had been reading this internet comic. Since he was pretty much addicted to it, he had to recommend it to EVERYONE. It was kinda silly but, fan boys will be fan boys. I do the same thing for a short period of time when I'm really into something, I guess It's just a natural thing. Anyway, I had seen some fan art and some buzz around the internet so, I finally decided to check it out myself.
Starting that comic was one of the dumbest things I could have done at the time. No thanks to my below average grades, short attention span this was a way to kill time. Before I knew it, I was sinking hours into just reading and reading and reading. It was as if I had sold my life to the author himself; looking back on it, I was surprised I could remain focused for that long. Anyway, the comic had a slow enough plot as it stands and over time it got even slower. I mean, at this time Homestuck had about 5000 pages and only getting longer.
But, around the end of my Sophomore year and the beginning of my Junior year, the comic's plot was at a complete stop. No, I don't mean the author stopped updating, I mean he was inserting a 2000 page backstory-filler arc out of nowhere. At this point I finally lost interest in the comic and never touched it since.
I'm sure you guys are wondering what this has to with STAC and basically, I took Luke's suggestion and I will give good reasons to hate on something. And now, let me give you three good reasons why I hate Homestuck with a burning passion.
One, the comic is paced very slowly and doesn't update very frequently. Normally, committed fans wouldn't mind to wait a little while. But, I am a very impatient person and hate waiting. For example, I can't wait for the new episode of a show that is currently airing, especially if the episode is really climatic or ends off on a cliffhanger. Two, the plot is too complicated and I have no clue how anyone can really follow it, that just may be a personal thing. The plot is so crazy I don't even want to START to ATTEMPT to describe it, check out the link at the bottom. Three, I really hate the art style. Once again, the fans don't seem to really care about the artistic quality in the drawings and animations. I mean, the whole comic is in MS paint, so the characters don't look very appealing. Even though I'm very critical of this comic, there are some positive aspects that I may touch upon in a later entry (I'm really sorry if I'm being a hater but haters gonna hate).
One more bad thing about the comic, which isn't even the comic itself, the fan base is terrible. I've seen some crazy people on the internet, Bronies (college and high school guys who like "My Little Pony) crazy COD nerds who don't know what a good game is and only play crappy first person shooters, even some crazy anime fans/weeaboos but, Homestucks are the absolute worst kind of people on the internet. My reasons, whenever I run into one on the internet its all crazy, off the wall, elitist, or just a straight up asshole right after I say, "I used to read it and don't anymore, I got really bored of it." I usually get a response along the lines of "OMG WHY AM I TALKING TO YOU, YOU HATE HOMESTUCK!" and "YOU SUCK BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE HOMESTUCK" or my personal favorite "YOU DONT LIKE HOMESTUCK? YOU HAVE NO SOUL!"
Anyway, I hope you liked my rant against a very popular internet comic and feel free to comment and if you like me hating on things, I can continue, make that my free write every week on something else I strongly dislike. Thanks for reading and have a nice day!

Artist's Bio
My name is Frank Bono and I am an artist. I am 17 and I am a senior at Herricks high school.
Over the past few years, I have been involved within many artistic mediums. These include, Musicals, Choir/Chorus and Works in Film. Art plays a very important role in my life. I use art as a way of entertainment, for myself and for the people who care enough to listen.
First, my involvement in film in school and outside of school. I had an internship at a real T.V. station "Public Access TV" and worked there over the years I was taking the class. I originally heard that the class was fun and a great time killer elective and that I should totally take it. I couldn't take it freshman year so I started in sophomore year. My first movie was the one I submitted as my STAC application, "The Dream Catcher." I played a role in developing the plot, doing some camerawork and acting as a character in the movie as well as post production editing the movie. I played as the creepy main antagonist who is a soul following the main character and she has to kill her friends to get rid of the pain the catcher is causing her. I had a lot of fun making the movie and from that point on I took every TV class I possibly could. In my junior year I also directed some projects which were all non-serious comedy films and those were very fun to make. Over the years I have learned to love all three forms of art and wish to continue working with them for the rest of my high school days in STAC.
Next, I will start with my involvement in the Musicals at Herricks. My first show was back in sixth grade when I barely knew that I could even sing. That year I was just in the ensemble and for only two scenes but, I gained some knowledge and found a love for singing and acting that carries into this very day. After that, every chance I got, I joined any musical I could find and had a blast doing them all. Some of my other roles include Franz the Butler in "The Sound of Music," Mendel in "Fiddler on the Roof" and most recently, Mr. Bratt in "How to Succeed in Business without really trying."
Finally, I will describe my career as a singer. As mentioned above, I really gained a love for singing in sixth grade. Even though I fulfilled my art requirement by taking art the previous year, I still decided it would be fun to take chorus for fun. As I expected, taking chorus was very fun and I would take it again if i could. That same year, I tried out for chamber choir for 2013 and got in. Throughout that whole year, I learned many techniques and my vocal growth was outstanding according to my teachers.
